To thrive and function well in the role, we expect you to:

  • Work both independently and collaboratively
  • Have a good sense of responsibility, structure, and order
  • Be comfortable in meeting people and contribute to a warm hospitality
  • See yourself as an ambassador for Fjälläventyr and our values
  • Have no issues with heavy lifting, winter cold, or working with frozen food
  • Hold a valid driver's license (B) and have good driving experience
  • Experience with trailers is an advantage
  • Have a snowmobile license or be willing to obtain one before the season (Cost approx. 4,000 SEK, price indication 2026)
  • Be able to handle email and basic work in Word and Excel

Previous experience in guiding, animal care, or working in outdoor environments is required. At the same time, we place great importance on attitude, teamwork, and responsibility.

Dog Sledding – Training, Dog Knowledge & Methodology

If you do not have previous experience in dog sledding, internal training is included as part of the introduction.

The training includes both practical and theoretical components, including:

  • At least 6 practical sessions with:
  • Harnessing, positioning, and starting the sled
  • Driving the sled in varied terrain
  • Basic dog care:
  • Feeding, resting, and recovery
  • Basic observation of the dogs' health and well-being
  • Dog psychology and pack behavior:
  • Understanding stress, calm, and signaling behaviors
  • Pack dynamics and individual roles

  • Fjälläventyr's approach to leadership, relationships, and respect between humans and dogs

Training and introduction are mandatory but not compensated. The goal is for you to feel secure and prepared before you work independently.

  • A valid CPR and first aid training is required
  • If this is missing at the start, there is an opportunity to undergo training according to our guidelines
  • You are expected to act calmly and structured in case of:
  • Accidents or falls
  • Injuries to guests, colleagues, or dogs
  • Rapid changes in weather or mountain conditions
  • Procedures and instructions from responsible management must always be followed

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities vary throughout the season and may include:

  • Guiding and assisting during dog sledding tours and other mountain adventures such as paddling, climbing, and hiking
